Clockwork Princess takes place in the 18th century in London. The two main conflicts are of Theresa Gray, a very pretty, brave, and simple lady who just wanted everyone to love and be loved, and her two complications. First, she has a long running rivalry against Axel Mortmain, a man who claims to be her creator and therefore her owner, and against herself for loving two gentlemen at once, William Herondale and James Carstairs. Both with very different qualities but a very big space in their heart just for her. The conflict gets worse when James is forced to die by Mortmain himself, who also kidnaps Theresa and tries to use her for her unknown supernatural abilities.
I enjoyed this book and wholeheartedly think it's worth reading because it discusses topics that I've always enjoyed and that are meant for all readers. Occult worlds, for once, is one of the topics discussed. For example in the novel, when Mortmain kidnaps Tessa to use her powers he finally speaks to her of her underworld origins(p.1732). I also enjoyed the book because it happens in the industrial revolution, permitting the characters to talk about it. For example, the characters have the chance to talk about the effects, good and bad, of the industrial revolution in the London of their era(p.225). These are some of the reasons I find this book worth reading.
I would recommend this book to people who enjoy fiction and romance, being it the central topic of every event in the plot line.
