This quarter I decided to read Clockwork Angel as my independent reading book. I chose this book because it is a prequel to The Mortal Instruments, a series I already read. Later I realized how books, and specially Cassandra Clare's, can get you tangled up in the story, making you feel the characters. The plot is set up in London, nearing the 1990's where Theresa Gray travels in the search of her long gone brother. She got tricked by a pair of warlocks that call themselves The Dark Sisters, witches of the Shadow World, and is trained by them to use a power she wasn't even aware she possessed. She can change into anyone she wants by only having something of their's. She gets to escape the sisters with the help of the Shadowhunter William Herondale, and he gets her to the shadowhunter Institute of London. She is well received by everyone specially James Carstairs, Will's best friend, who is dying slowly because of a curse that a demon placed upon him. She falls in love with both of them, and at the same time a man named Axel Mortmain is planning to destroy shadowhunters, a race with blood of angels made to fight demons, using something nor heaven's nor hell's. Clockwork creatures. He for some reason needs Theresa and she wants to know why, as well as she wants to find her brother.
Clockwork Angel is a very good book to read, but I would recommend it more to the feminine public. It mixes up different topics and has the classical love triangle in the one you end up falling as a desperate reader. With a love story and the mystery of what Mortmains wants from Theresa the story hooks you and doesn't let you escape. The author also created a new fictitious reality, something hard to accomplish. I would recommend this book to my friend Juan Diego and to everyone who likes to read fantasy. I totally recommend the book, and I love it.
